Certified Natural Gas Marketer:
A company that has been authorized by the Georgia Public Service Commission to sell natural gas within the state.
Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC):
The mission of the Georgia PSC is to exercise its authority and influence to ensure that consumers receive safe, reliable and reasonably priced telecommunications, transportation, electric and natural gas services from financially viable and technically competent companies.
LDC:
Local distribution company. In the Georgia deregulated market, the natural gas is delivered by the Atlanta Gas Light Company.
Slamming:
Switching gas service without a customer’s approval. This practice is illegal, and penalties are enforced by the PSC.
Terms of Service:
A contract between a Certified Gas Marketer and a customer that outlines fees, length of service and other important information. Certified Gas Marketers must provide this disclosure to all customers.
